Which applications to develop with Kombucha fermentation matter ? Bacterial culture used to create this beverage also produces a thick and translucent skin. With multiple experimental iterations, multiplying types of culture and their treatments ( adding textile fiber, mineral powders, plastic matrix, or natural dyes), we tried to obtain new materials with new properties (impermeability, translucency, tensile strenght,…). We have found a particular interest in drying, mixing and molding the « symbiote ». We have obtained a resistant and waterproof matter which seems to be a good alternative to the plastic made from petrochemical products. We have imagined a new cycle of production based on bioreactors.
